Prevention and therapy of mixed helminthiasis in dogs caused by nematodes (toxocarosis, hookworm) and cestodes (teniidosis, dipylidiosis, echinococcosis). The active components of drontal praziquantel and pyrantel show synergistic action and have a detrimental effect against round and ribbon helminths.
Praziquantel is absorbed very quickly by parasites through their surface and is evenly distributed in them, thus, severe damage to the parasite shell occurs very quickly, followed by subsequent contraction of the shell and paralysis of the parasites.
The basis for the rapid action is mainly a change in the permeability of the parasite membranes for Ca++, which causes praziquantel, which leads to a violation of the parasite metabolism.
Pyrantel as a cholinergic antagonist has an effect similar to nicotine and leads to spastic paralysis of nematodes by depolarizing neuromuscular blockade.

Drontal Plus is intended for therapeutic and preventive treatment of dogs against round and ribbon helminths.
Drontal Plus can be given to puppies, old and weakened animals, pregnant and nursing bitches.

Safety

Pyrantel embonate and febantel are partially absorbed in the intestine and excreted from the body mainly with feces within 24-48 hours.
Praziquantel is excreted from the body in the urine mainly in a metabolized form.
Contraindications: Weakened animals, sick animals. A preliminary consultation with a veterinarian is recommended.
Side effect: With proper use of the drug, side effects and complications are not observed
Tablets in the form of a bone. There are 6 tablets in a package.
The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 5 years from the date of production.

Structure
Ingredients: febantel 150 mg, pyrantel embonate 144 mg, praziquantel 50 mg.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
Dosage: One tablet per 10 kg of body weight.
It can be given separately or together with food.
There is no need for fasting before or after treatment
Drontal plus is injected into dogs individually, once at the rate of 1 tablet per 10 kg of animal weight, in the morning feeding with a small amount of feed (with a piece of meat, sausage, minced meat, porridge).
Tablets are given to puppies and small dogs weighing 0.5 – 1.9 kg in the amount of 1/4 tablet, weighing 2 – 5 kg – 1/2 tablet, weighing 6 – 10 kg – 1 tablet.
Average dogs weighing 11-20 kg — 2 tablets, weighing 21-30 kg – 3 tablets.
Large dogs weighing 31 – 40 kg — 4 tablets, weighing 41 – 50 kg – 5 tablets.
In case of refusal of the animal from the feed with anthelmintic, the drug is administered forcibly on the root of the tongue or in the form of an aqueous suspension.
To prepare the suspension, the tablet is crushed, suspended in 10 ml of water, shaken intensively and immediately injected into the animal using a syringe with a catheter at the rate of 1 ml of suspension per 1 kg of animal weight.
A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives before deworming is not required.
For preventive purposes, the treatment of adult dogs against helminths is recommended to be carried out 4 times a year. It is especially necessary to do this before vaccination, mating and 10 days before the puppy.
For therapeutic purposes, animals are dewormed according to indications, for preventive purposes – quarterly in a therapeutic dose.
In the treatment of giardiasis, the drug is used in recommended dosages for 3 consecutive days.
Drontal plus can be used for puppies from 2 weeks of age and weighing more than 2 kg.
The drug is approved for use during lactation.
Thanks to the flavor additive, the drug is well eaten by dogs.
