The drug has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties, has a wide range of antimicrobial action, is highly effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including chlamydia, mycoplasma, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as strains resistant to methicillin and gentamicin.
When applied topically, ciprofloxacin penetrates well into the cornea and anterior chamber of the eye, especially in violation of the epithelial layer of the cornea.
